Babies being cared for in the Neonatal department at George Eliot Hospital are benefiting from a donation of six new Neopuff devices, which has been funded in collaboration between the department and the League of Friends.
A Neopuff device is a specialist device which helps babies breath easier and provides essential support in their early days of life.
Speaking about the donation, Maria Bull, Matron for Neonatal Services at George Eliot Hospital said: “SCBU is focused on helping premature babies breathe more gently and safely without needing more invasive treatments.”
“By purchasing six Neopuff devices, the team can give these babies the right amount of breathing support, tailored to their small size. “
“This helps reduce the risk of injury to their lungs, such as air leaks or the need for more aggressive ventilation.”
Mike Parsons, Chairman of The League of Friends said “We are always delighted to be able to support the work of the fantastic teams here at the hospital and to improve the experience of the patients. It is our mission to continue the work of the charity formed in 1955. Thanks to all our volunteers who support the League of Friends and make such donations possible.”
This support shows once again the League of Friends dedication and commitment towards patient care.
