Mr Bala Piramanayagam is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and has been a valuable member of staff since 2012. He is the chair of the Speciality Advisory Committee in General Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons and is educational lead for higher surgical trainees in the West Midlands. Mr Piramanayagam brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the wider surgical team.
He has served as the Clinical Director for surgery for a period of 5 years from 2018 to 2023 and led the department to the highest standards of safe and efficient care and was recognised by CQC awarding a GOOD rating for surgery .

Mr Bala Piramanayagam completed his specialist general and colorectal surgical training in the West Midlands and on completing his higher surgical training secured the Laparoscopic Colorectal fellowship at Bradford Royal Infirmary gaining considerable experience in advanced laparoscopic procedures.
Mr Bala Piramanayagam published his research thesis and has a number of presentations both in national and international meetings. He was also awarded the prestigious British Association of Oncology travelling fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons in the year 2005.
He is extremely committed to training and is currently one of the Programme Directors for higher surgical training in the West Midlands .
He is also the Chair of the Specialty Advisory Committee for General Surgery which is the governing body of general surgical training in the UK & Ireland
He is a FRCS examiner for surgeons at the Royal Colleges and also an examiner for medical students at Warwick Medical School.
