Dr Nik Sanyal is a Palliative Medicine Consultant who works predominantly at George Eliot Hospital but also with the North Warwickshire Community Palliative Care Team. Dr Sanyal has been with the Trust since 2022.
Dr Sanyal also has a role as Medical Examiner for the trust which means that he provides independent scrutiny of the proposed causes of deaths for patients who have died either in the hospital or in the community.
He trained at Warwick Medical School following doing an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science at Southampton. After qualifying in 2013 he remained in the West Midlands to complete his training in Palliative Medicine.
His interests include education and supporting colleagues with complex decision making. He is particularly interested in working towards a system where palliative care can be provided equitably to all and as such has co-founded a group to support those experiencing homelessness in accessing the palliative support they need. He also has an interest in the interface between non-malignant disease and palliative care.
