Image of Dr Edmond Sung

Dr Sung is the clinical lead for Endoscopy. Dr. Sung was appointed as Consultant in Gastroenterology and General Medicine at the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust in 2011. Since qualifying in 1999 with his basic medical degree from University of Wales College of Medicine, he undertook his specialist gastroenterology and general medicine training in West Midlands and received his CCT in 2010. He also undertook a research fellowship at University of Warwick (research MD). The research work was based on hunger mechanisms in Crohn’s disease, immunology and cancer chemotherapy on gastrointestinal motility. His work has been published in scientific journals and presented at national and international meetings.

Dr. Sung special interests include clinical nutrition and inflammatory bowel disease. He is currently lead clinician for nutrition and provides support for nutrition multidisciplinary meetings and ward rounds, and provide inpatient and outpatient nutrition support services. In addition, he has recently been appointed as clinical lead for inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Sung is a member of British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), British Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN), Royal College of Physicians and Medical Defence Union.
