For a decade, this group has been offering compassionate companionship, gentle exercise, and a space to share stories in a relaxed, friendly setting.
Since its launch, Walk and Talk has brought together patients who are living with or recovering from cancer, along with specialist nurses and volunteers, to meet every Tuesday at 1:30pm in Riversley Park, Nuneaton.
Volunteer lead Mick Gilbert, who organises the initiative said: “The walks offer more than just fresh air: they provide a vital forum for peer support, emotional resilience and human connection.
“Walk and Talk has been about much more than walking. It’s about walking together — sharing stories, strength, laughter, sometimes tears — and never being alone on the journey. We’re so grateful to all who have joined us over the years, and to those who continue to support the group.”
Over the last decade, the group has met weekly, weathering challenges like lockdowns and social distancing with creativity and care.
Many lasting friendships have formed; some members have met through Walk and Talk and sustained their support networks outside official meetings.
