The Trust’s Heart Failure Nursing Service has been successfully shortlisted in the Community Care Initiative of the Year category for their hugely successful work to bring heart failure care closer to the community and help reduce health inequalities.
Meanwhile, the Trust’s Patient Safety Team has been shortlisted for the Patient Involvement in Safety Award for their project ‘What to Expect and How You Can Be Involved in a Patient Safety Incident Investigation’. Highlighting how putting patients first is driving innovation and safety at the hospital.
The announcement comes after a rigorous judging process by a panel of esteemed healthcare leaders and patient safety experts. Organised by the Health Service Journal (HSJ), the Patient Safety Awards celebrate the teams and individuals going above and beyond to protect patients from harm, reduce risks, and embed a culture of safety across the UK healthcare sector.
Adam Carson, Acting Chief Executive for George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, praised the teams involved: “Both of these teams truly deserve this recognition as their continuous hard work and dedication to improving patient safety and care is making a difference to the people we care for.
“We are all very proud of what they continue to achieve, and it is a reflection of their dedication to doing what is best for our patients.”
This year’s awards ceremony will take place on 15 September 2025 at Manchester Central.
