The George Eliot Hospital League of friends have been awarded the prestigious High Sheriff of Warwickshire award by Warwickshire High Sheriff, Karen Jane Lynch MBE.

High Sheriffs Award 3.jpegThe High Sheriff of Warwickshire Award honours the remarkable efforts of individuals and organisations who dedicate themselves to making Warwickshire a thriving, compassionate, and inspiring community.

The League of friends was recognised for going above and beyond to create positive change in the hospital and for the community it serves.

Their nomination highlighted how they are a “Shining example of community spirit, compassion, and voluntary dedication in Warwickshire”   

and “its longevity, unwavering purpose, and the quiet heroism of its volunteers.”

High Sheriffs Award 11.jpegThe presentation took place at the League of friends’ tea bar, which is in the maternity building at George Eliot Hospital with the celebration including teas, coffee, and cakes for the incredible team.

Mike Parsons, Chairman of the League of Friends, " We are truly honoured to receive this award."

"Supporting hospital teams in enhancing patient care lies at the core of everything we do. We take great pride in contributing to the wellbeing of our community and extend our heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers, whose generosity makes contributions like this possible." 

The League of Friends recently celebrated their 70th birthday. The group were founded in 1955 and have helped raise millions of pounds for the hospital. The tea bars, legacies and donations have helped purchase vital equipment for the hospital which improves patient care and experience. 

The League of Friends are always looking for new volunteers to join the team.
