George received the prestigious award for his leadership as Chair of the Armed Forces Network at George Eliot Hospital, a role in which he has dedicated considerable time to improving support for both colleagues and patients from the armed forces community. His work has led to meaningful improvements in awareness, inclusion and support across the Trust.
The Nuneaton and Bedworth Award of Merit is presented to people who have made an exceptional contribution to the local community, recognising dedication, service and a positive impact across the area.
He received his award as part of a special ceremony in the Mayor’s Parlour on Tuesday 27 January.
George commented on receiving his award: ““While I accept this award, it represents the teamwork, values, and shared sense of service that underpin our commitment here at George Eliot to the Armed Forces Covenant, and there is still a long way to go to ensure the barriers and stigma around veterans are removed.”
