George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust Chairman Stuart Annan thanked local volunteers at a festive lunch at the hospital last week.
Over 80 volunteers attended the lunch which celebrated their contributions in 2014.
George Eliot Hospital currently has over 300 volunteers working as part of the Trust’s official volunteer programme or as part of support groups such as Anker Radio, the Chaplaincy, the League of Friends, Macmillan, Patient Participation Groups, fundraising volunteers, the Members’ Advocacy Panel (MAP) and the Patient Advocacy Forum (PAF).
Volunteers perform an invaluable service, helping to complement the care offered by staff at the George Eliot.
Chairman Stuart Annan said:"I would like to thank every one of the volunteers who give up their time to support the hospital. We are very grateful for their time and contributions and appreciate that many of the hospital activities would not be possible without their help."
Acting Chief Executive, Kath Kelly said: "The work of volunteers in valuable to our patients but also to our staff.
“Our volunteers wrap themselves around the George Eliot and their support and dedication is immeasurable."
