The League of Friends have donated £8,000 to purchase a patient lifting kit to assist the nursing and portering staff at the George Eliot Hospital. The lifting kit is specifically designed to lift patients who have had a fall.
Whilst the hospital does everything possible to prevent falls there are occasions when patients do fall and require lifting. The flat lift kit is designed to support both staff and the patient in such incidences. The kit is placed underneath the patient then inflated in order to ease the patient into bed. This is much less stressful for the patient and avoids the need for nursing and portering staff to physically lift the patient.
This purchase is possible because of the continuing support of the League of Friends’ volunteers who run the Cafes at the Hospital generating funds used to purchase equipment.
