Following the announcement of Chief Executive Kath Kelly’s retirement, George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust has approved the appointment of Glen Burley as their new Chief Executive. As part of this arrangement, George Eliot Hospital is proposing to join the Foundation Group model which would enhance opportunities for sharing best practice, service improvement and integration, whilst enabling George Eliot to continue to be an independent organisation with its own Board of Directors.
Prem Singh, Chairman at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust said: “I am delighted to welcome Glen Burley to the role. Glen brings with him a wealth of experience which will support and strengthen integrated working across the health and care system in Coventry and Warwickshire.”
Glen Burley, Chief Executive at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust and Wye Valley NHS Trust said: “I am very pleased to accept the position of Chief Executive at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. As well as taking on this new role, I will continue to be Chief Executive for both South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) and Wye Valley NHS Trust (WVT). This also provides an opportunity for us to explore the possibility of extending the foundation group model with SWFT and WVT. Formal proposals would need to be considered by each board but would aim to maximise the opportunities of being part of a wider group while retaining individual boards which engage with local stakeholders to deliver sustainable services for their communities. I am proud that I will be overseeing three organisations that all are driving integrated care and I am looking forward to working with staff at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust.”
