George Eliot Hospital, in common with the health system across Coventry and Warwickshire is facing extremely high levels of demand.
Staff are working hard to keep patients safe in very busy Emergency Departments and pressure on inpatient beds is currently very high.
To help us manage the current extreme demand, we urge people in Coventry and Warwickshire who need medical advice for urgent, but not life-threatening conditions to use NHS 111 or their local pharmacy.
Pharmacists offer expert advice for many common winter ailments such as coughs and colds, sinusitis, earaches and sore throats. It is important to speak to a pharmacist at the first signs of winter illness before it gets more serious.
We also encourage people to ensure they have adequate supplies of prescription medicines to last throughout the holiday period.
If you are entitled to your flu jab book your vaccination through your local GP.
