Specialty details

About the Service:

We provide a comprehensive service which deals with all aspects of urology including investigation and treatment of high PSA results, blood in the urine, kidney stones, prostatism, erectile dysfunction, bladder dysfunction and testicular lumps.

We perform a wide variety of operations, including nephrectomy, resection of bladder tumour, circumcision, orchidectomy, urethrotomy, laser lithotripsy, flexible cystoscopy, rigid cystoscopy & diathermy, saline resection TURP (with reduced length of stay) and prostate biopsies. We work closely with UHCW, and as part of the Arden Cancer Network our major prostate and bladder cancer operations are performed in UHCW.

We operate a dedicated urology unit, unique to our area, which is run by our urology nurse specialists, who are the key workers for our urology cancer patients. We also have three junior doctors in the team including a Specialist Registrar. Patients attend the urology unit for prostate biopsies, urodynamics studies, bladder instillations, change of catheter and trial without catheter
