League of Friends have helped raise millions of pounds for the Hospital, since it was founded in 1955.
Two friendly tea bars, legacies and donations have helped to buy many pieces of medical equipment to support the hospital including defibrillators, electric fans, physiotherapy equipment, blood pressure monitors and many more invaluable items. The birthing pools recently installed within the Maternity Unit delivery suite were also purchased by the League of Friends.
The League of Friends provide important equipment, but also a cup of tea and comfort for patients and visitors.
Tea bars can be found in the corridor leading up to the main entrance to the hospital and on the ground floor of the maternity unit.
Both bars are entirely manned by this amazing group of volunteers who give up their time to support the bar.
The main tea bar is open between 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday and the maternity tea bar is open from 10.00am - 4.00pm Monday to Friday. The main tea bar is also open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The League would like to see more volunteers join them in the future. Most volunteers only give up one day of their time a month.
