Weekly walk aims to get Camp Hill residents fit and active

Residents from the Camp Hill area of Nuneaton are being given the opportunity to step out and get fit with the help of Camp Hill GP Led Health Centre and the Nuneaton and Bedworth Healthy Living Network.
As part of their aim to encourage healthy living, the health centre and Healthy Living Network will be leading a weekly walk around Camp Hill.
The walk, which leaves from the health centre on Ramsden Avenue at 12.30pm every Wednesday, is approximately two-miles long and takes just over half an hour. The walk is carried out in a figure of eight so if people cannot manage the full distance they can stop halfway around.
As well as participating in the walks, members of staff from the health centre and healthy living network will also be on hand to offer healthy eating advice along with some healthy snacks that have been kindly donated by the Co-op supermarket in Camp Hill.
Local resident John Holmes will leading the walks. John said: “As well as being an excellent opportunity to get some exercise and stay healthy it is also a great chance to meet new people. I’d encourage anyone with an interest in getting fit and healthy to come down and give it a try.”

Debbie Moore, Health Centre Manager, said: “As well as offering the usual services you would expect from a GP led health centre we also aim to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst local people. Regular walking is clinically proven to reduce high blood pressure, coronary heart disease and strokes.
“As well as these benefits it is proven that regular exercise helps you feel happier and full of energy and helps you sleep.”
Anyone wishing to take part in the walk can just turn up at the health centre at 12.30pm on Wednesdays. The walk is open to people of all levels of fitness and will be tailored to the abilities of those that attend.
