George Eliot staff help raise money for Children in Need
Staff across the George Eliot Hospital have been doing their bit to support BBC’s Children in Need charity with a series of fundraising events being held across the hospital.
Events included a tombola, a sponsored silence and a sponsored bike ride on a cycling machine in the main entrance to the hospital.
Staff from Caterina children’s ward held a stall in the main reception to the hospital with a raffle, tombola and a competition to guess the weight of the Pudsey bear cake (see attached picture).
They were joined in main reception by members of staff from across the hospital taking part in a sponsored cycle. Over 30 members of staff took it in turns to spend 15 minutes on a cycle machine borrowed from the Trust’s physiotherapy department.
Across the whole Trust staff raised in excess of £500, with more money still to come from sponsorship.
Karen Bell, Play Specialist, said: “Working on the children’s ward at the George Eliot, the Children in Need is obviously a charity very close to our hearts and something we look forward to supporting every year. I’d like to thank all the staff on Carterina Ward who donated cakes and prizes to the stall and helped us to raise so much money.”Trust Charitable Funds Coordinator Jean Whittaker said: “Children in Need is a fantastic cause that always seems to appeal to people’s charitable nature. It was great to see so many members of staff taking part in fundraising activities and helping to make a difference.”
