A number of Unions recognised by George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, including Unison, Unite, the Royal College of Midwives and the Society of Radiographers are taking part in a national strike on Thursday 29 January 2015.
Unison and Unite will be taking strike action between 9:00am and 9:00pm, the Royal College of Midwives will strike between 1.00pm and 3:00pm and Members of the Society of Radiographers will also be taking strike action between 08:00am and 2:00pm.
There are a number of activities, including clinics, operations and radiology (x-ray) planned to take place during the industrial action that will be re-scheduled and patients will be contacted prior to 29 January 2015 to arrange a suitable alternative time and date.
We can assure patients that across all services, including radiology, emergency cover will be in place. Normal activity will resume at the end of the scheduled industrial action.
We want to reassure patients that we have robust plans in place to ensure a safe level of cover during the strike action so that planned activity is not affected on the day of the strike action. Any changes to appointments will be communicated to our patients as necessary.
We have a good relationship with our staff side and we are assured that, despite this action our high standards and levels of care will be maintained as we always put our patients first.
