New Nuneaton support group for parents who have experienced baby loss

Bereaved parents and staff within the George Eliot Hospital Maternity Team have launched a new monthly support group and a facebook site www.facebook.com/SophiaPLS for anyone who has experienced baby loss during their pregnancy.

SOPHIA is aimed at families who have experienced baby loss at any time, from early pregnancy to late pregnancy. The group will meet to have a coffee, chat or just offer support to others.

Anyone interested in the group can come along to Combe House between 6-8pm starting Tuesday 1 st March 2016. Further meetings will be held on the first Tuesday each month.

Giovanna Cook who lost her own baby in December 2015 started the group with support from staff at the George Eliot Hospital.

Giovanna said: “After I lost my baby last year I looked for support groups in the local area and I couldn’t find anything in Nuneaton so contacted the maternity team at the George Eliot Hospital for advice.

“I set up the group with the staff at the George Eliot and established a facebook page. I am now looking forward to the start of the group and hope others will come along and find comfort from our new group.”

Combe house is one of the one floor brick office buildings on the main hospital site, opposite the main hospital building, in College Street, Nuneaton, CV10 7DJ (on the right of the main visitor car park).

No need to book but you can contact the group on 07830614711 or 07944932999 or email sophiagroup16@gmail.com

Further information for parents who have experienced pregnancy loss can be found on the George Eliot Hospital maternity web pages.
