Deputy Chief Executive Shahana Khan and Tony Christie
Tony Christie visited the George Eliot Hospital on 5 October to lend his support to the staff flu campaign to increase vaccinations for employees in the hospital.
Tony joined a variety of staff across the hospital to create a fun version of his hit song “Is this the way to Amarillo” to help encourage others to get their flu jabs.
George Eliot Hospital Deputy Chief Executive, Shahana Khan said: “I would like to thank Tony for the time he gave up freely within his busy schedule to support our staff flu vaccination campaign.
“His professionalism, patience and good humour made a real impression on the staff that met him. I’m confident that his kind efforts will make a real impact on the numbers of staff having their flu jabs - and in turn the safety of our patients and their families.”
“We were delighted to have Tony visit our hospital and work with our dedicated staff.”
The flu fighting team at the George Eliot Hospital has over 30 flu vaccinators amongst its staff and is constantly looking at new ways to increase take up of the flu vaccine amongst its staff and volunteers.
Last year, the Trust was very proud of the fact that they won the Best Team award at the NHS Flu fighter awards for their campaign to increase take up of the flu vaccination within its staff.
