Ellis was nominated by Theatre Manager, Paula Quinn for always being ready to going the extra mile for both her colleagues but more importantly the patients. Ellis works mainly in the Day Procedures Unit, but also does shifts covering the Trauma and Emergency theatre and Maternity theatre both planned sections and emergency.
Richard Cubbon was also nominated by the Theatre team for his hard work, team skills and dedication to patients at the George Eliot. Richard was shortlisted for the way he makes both patients and his colleagues feel at ease during his work and he is a great support to students and newly qualified members of staff within the department.
Paula said “Ellis and Richard are both rising stars within the theatre department and being receiving this recognition is an honour for both of these hardworking members of our team.
“Ellis always manages to stay calm at all times and is highly thought of by senior staff and clinicians alike. She is professional and regularly demonstrates diplomacy and leadership skills, qualities which will take her far in the future. I am proud that she works for our organisation and she will make an excellent team leader once the opportunity comes along.”
“Richard is a valued member of the team who doesn’t get flustered and can act decisively when needed, ensuring that patients get the best care we can provide. He supports others by being the ‘go to guy’ for information and if he doesn’t know the answer to a question he will make it his priority to find out. Richard is a great ambassador for the role of the ODP and is an advocate for research and evidence based practice.”
Operating Department Practitioners provide high standards of skilled care and support during each phase of a patient’s care when they are having an operation - anaesthetic, surgical and recovery.
The UK-wide Advancing Healthcare Awards, organised by Chamberlain Dunn, now in their twelfth year, recognise and reward projects and professionals that lead innovative healthcare practice and make a real difference to patients’ lives in the healthcare science and allied health professions.
