MAKING new friends and sharing experiences have been part of the success of a popular group in Nuneaton which celebrates its second year this month.
George Eliot Hospital has been hosting their 'Walk & Talk' weekly walks in Riversley park every Tuesday for the past two years, come rain or shine.
The group of past and present patients who have experienced cancer has grown from strength to strength. The walks are an opportunity to talk to specialist nurses in an informal setting about issues that affect their own personal situations and provide a setting to make new friends.
Walkers said the group was an opportunity to ask those questions you forget to ask during appointments, share concerns and experiences and just talk to others who are going through similar experiences.
Macmillan oncology breast clinical nurse specialist, Alison Syborn, said: "We walk every week no matter what the weather brings and regularly have positive feedback from the group. Some members have been coming for over a year and others dip in and out whenever they feel well enough to come along.”
“Partners and friends are also welcome to come along to the group and our walks.”
The walk takes place between 1.30pm and 2.30pm every Tuesday. The group meet just outside the Nuneaton and Bedworth Museum.
