The Bowel Cancer Patients Support group, who meet at the George Eliot Hospital each month have organised their third annual quiz night to support patients at the hospital.
The Quiz night is being held on Friday, 22nd November from 7.30pm at the Griff and Coton, Nuneaton. Funds raised by the quiz will support the purchase of specialist equipment to support patients.
Last year’s quiz night and the successful family sponsored walk in September this year have helped to purchase a laparoscopic camera to be used in theatres. Laparoscopic cameras help to reduce postoperative pain and a provide a faster recovery time for patients.
Colorectal Nurse Specialist, Debbie Smith said: “Last year’s quiz night was a great success and we are now booking teams for this year’s fun family event.”
“We would like to thank everyone who has attended our quiz nights or sponsored walk, which are making a real difference to our bowel cancer patients here at the hospital.”
The free Bowel Cancer Support Group is open to anyone who has experienced colorectal cancer, and is hosted by the team of clinical nurse specialists from the George Eliot Hospital. They meet on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 6pm - 8pm in the George Eliot Hospital Training and Education Centre (GETEC). Patients can share their experiences and offer valuable support to each other.
Entry fee for each team is £10. The event includes a raffle and prize for the winning team. Anyone interested in attending the quiz night at the Griff & Coton Club, Heath End Road, Nuneaton, CV10 7JQ, or in joining the Bowel Cancer Patients Support Group, can contact group member John on 07747623952 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
