A documentary about the role of a Physician Associate was launched at the George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton last week.
Physician Associates (PAs) are a pioneering role within the NHS and been successfully employed at the George Eliot Hospital for four years. The PA supports doctors in the diagnosis and management of patients under the supervision of their consultant. They are trained to perform a number of roles including taking medical histories, performing examinations, diagnosing illnesses, analysing test results and developing management plans for the care of patients.
Director of Human Resources, Dorothy Hogg said:
“The Physician Associate is an exciting new role which we have found to be invaluable in providing safe and competent care to patients as they function as a link between the patient and consultant.
“We are delighted to be leading the way with new innovations that support our patients and are confident that the Physician Associate role will continue to grow at the George Eliot.”
