An ‘Orthopaedic’ evening event is being held at the George Eliot Hospital for local people who have had orthopaedic related operations or have one planned in the future on Thursday 9June 2016.
Orthopaedic consultants and physiotherapists will be on hand to talk to patients who have experienced injuries and conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system (the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves). You may be referred to a trauma and orthopaedic consultant for treatment of an injury such as a bone fracture, a deformity of the spine or limbs, or a long-term condition that's developed over many years, such as osteoarthritis.
Specialists will also talk to patients about after care provided for patients following treatment.
Presentations will start at 6:30pm and the event will finish by 8:30pm.
Free car parking in the George Eliot Hospital ‘GETEC’ (George Eliot Training Education Centre) will be available. Tea and Coffee will also be available from 6.00pm.
We would like to see as many people as possible at this interesting event. Previous patient events have been popular so please email George Eliot Hospital Fund raising Co-ordinator, Jean Whittaker MBE on 02476 86 5400 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to come along.
Further information - Eliot Fun Run supporting Orthopaedics
This year George Eliot Hospital is holding its fantastic fourth fun 5km event on Sunday 10 July 2016 starting at 11am to support our Orthopaedics patients at the hospital.
Everyone will be welcome to take part whether you want to walk, jog or run the 5km course which starts outside the George Eliot Hospital Training and Education Centre (GETEC) next to the main hospital. All participants will receive a medal on the day for taking part.
If you want to run the course and need a bit of motivation, why not check out the ‘NHS Couch to 5km’ training plan which requires 9 weeks to complete (just in time for the Eliot Fun Run). George Eliot Hospital will also be providing healthy advice for staff during the run up to the event on their website www.geh.nhs.uk
Register today or sign up on the day for the event. The entrance fee is £5 for adults and £3 for children under 16. Dogs can take part for free if accompanied by responsible owners.
