Cancer Patient Teresa Noon and her dedicated family and friends recently raised over £5,000 to purchase much needed equipment for the Oncology Department at the George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton.
The money was raised through a number of local fund raising events which were strongly supported by local people, and which have also helped to create Bedworth’s newest ‘boy band’; ‘Have This’ who performed at the cheque handover ceremony.
The money raised will purchase three infusion pumps for the Oncology department, which will help to deliver Chemotherapy and supportive therapies to cancer patients and will help to reduce waiting times for patients. The generosity of the local people exceeded expectations for the organisers who received fantastic support from all of their local friends before, during and after the event.
Teresa said: "The organisation of the events was a team effort and the fundraising has helped us make more great friends at the same time"
"We are planning other events this year and want to thank everyone providing the music, our friends, the organisers and all the people donating their money to support this excellent local service within our local community.
Cancer Specialist Nurse Sandra Vyskocil said: "We were really pleased to be invited into the home of one of the organisers of the events in Bedworth and look forward to their next Grand Charity Night being planned for September. All donations to the Oncology department help to support our patients and we are thankful to Teresa, Trevor, Tracy, Bill and all of their friends who helped to make this all possible"
The next fundraising event is being held at the Saunders Club in Bedworth on 12th September. The evening will feature a wide variety of entertainment including ‘Have This’, ‘The Full Wumpty’, Coventry’s stripping bus drivers, Jimmy, male vocalist, a drag artist and much more. Music is being provided by Big Rich.
Tickets are £5.00 and available from the Saunders Club or call Teresa on 07811 806317/02476 733438.
