Katherine Hydon from Nuneaton gave birth to baby Lois within half an hour of her namesake, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Little Lois weighed 7lb and 10oz when she was delivered in the labour suite of the George Eliot Hospital Maternity Unit at 10.22 am on St George’s Day, 23rd April.
Proud parents Katherine and Michael Hydon were excited that their baby was one of the eight babies born at the George Eliot on the same day as the Royal birth. Kate is a Paediatric nurse within the Special Care Baby Unit at the hospital and her colleagues were thrilled with the news.
This was the second time a mum with a similar name to the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth at the George Eliot Hospital Maternity Unit. In 2015, another Kate (Kate Turner) had her son Charlie at the George Eliot on the same day as the birth of Princess Charlotte.
Proud mum Katherine said: “The staff here have been superb and nothing has been too much trouble. It’s been a really interesting to experience the service as a staff member!”
Both Kate and baby Lois are doing well.
