The flu jab is available free on the NHS to protect people at risk of flu and subsequent complications. Flu can be unpleasant, but if you are generally healthy it will usually clear up on its own within a week.
Flu can be more severe in people over 65, pregnant women, people with an underlying health condition (particularly long-term heart or respiratory disease) and people with weakened immune systems.
Anyone in these risk groups is more likely to develop potentially serious complications from flu, such a pneumonia, so it is recommended they receive the jab every year.
If you fall into one of these categories, why not speak to your GP or pharmacist about getting the jab and help to protect yourself and your family from the effects of flu.
