Health trainers at Asda

Health Trainers from the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust carried out free health checks and offered healthy living advice to shoppers who visited the Asda supermarket in Nuneaton on Wednesday last week.

Around 30 people took the opportunity to spend 15 minutes with a Health Trainer to speak to them about their health concerns. The Health Trainers were able to carry out various checks on the day including blood pressure and weight. Combining this with information about each person’s lifestyle the team were able to offer advice about changes that could be made to improve health.

Health Trainer, Khadija Bakali, said: “We’re really pleased with the number of people that we engaged with and we know that they all went away with knowledge about what they can do to maintain a healthier way of life.

“Some of the people that we spoke to need further one to one support and we’ll be able to make sure they get that. It was great to learn that many people in the community have already heard about our service and are keen to register with us.”

Anyone in Nuneaton and Bedworth can access a free health check and healthy living advice with the Health Trainers, who are based at the Camp Hill Health Centre. The team is also happy to attend community events and perform home visits if necessary to offer one to one support in maintaining a healthy life style. They can also offer advice and plans to aid weight management, smoking cessation and alcohol reduction. For more information, please call 024 7639 0008.
