A planned new children’s unit at George Eliot Hospital will receive a splash of colour thanks to money raised at a special auction. The event at George Eliot Hospital auctioned off work from local artists to raise funds for artwork to be purchased and created for the new paediatric assessment unit, which is due to open in spring 2013.
Under the hammer went a variety of artworks including acrylics, watercolours, sculptures, drawings, ceramics, fine art and etchings produced by professional and amateur artists from across the Coventry and Warwickshire area.
The auction was overseen by celebrity auctioneer, Jane Dayus-Hinch (TV personality and UK Wedding Planner).
Doreen Sadler, stakeholder engagement manager, who organised the auction, said “The event was enjoyed and well received by those who took part. Around half of the lots on sale were sold and we are still hoping to sell the remaining lots via our website. Special thanks go to Cawthornes stationary supplies and Tesco’s (Arena Park) who supported this event.”
