Food donations to a local homeless shelter and foodbank were provided by the George Eliot Maternity Team over Christmas.
A huge box of essential food items was collected by the local foodbank team just before Christmas with kind donations from staff. Maternity staff in the busy delivery suite bought food items instead of Christmas cards.
The donation was split between the Salvation Army homeless shelter and the TT Foodbank.
Local foodbank volunteer, Michael Sayner said: "We want to thank all of the staff in the Maternity Unit at the George Eliot Hospital for their valuable donation.
“We also received donations from other staff at the George Eliot Hospital in the run up to Christmas. We were amazed by the generosity of local people who contributed to our Christmas appeal."
Delivery Suite Lead, Dawn Rees said:"Our team wanted to help others over Christmas and this was one way we could all contribute."
Unison representative, Dawn Downes added: "Many staff across the George Eliot supported the local foodbank over Christmas. We have foodbank collection points across the hospital and we also had a toy collection in the run up to Christmas.
“We set up foodbank points initially for staff eighteen months ago and are now sharing with our local community”.
