Parkinson's Team Award.jpg

A partnership of hospitals, hospices and volunteers across Coventry and Warwickshire that supports people affected by Parkinson’s disease has been recognised with a national award.

Coventry and Warwickshire’s Parkinson’s Multi-Disciplinary Team was honoured with the UK Parkinson’s Excellence Network Trophy in recognition of the outstanding partnership working that has been developed between local health services. This local partnership initiative increased the number of people and carers affected by Parkinson’s attending local hospices for respite care. They were recognised for providing a gold standard quality service for their multi-disciplinary team approach to comprehensive patient care.

The partnership included George Eliot Hospital, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, South Warwickshire Foundation Trust and patient volunteers, in collaboration with Mary Ann Evans Hospice and Myton Hospices.

Consultant Neurologist, Dr Andrea Lindahl who is Joint Lead for the Coventry and Warwickshire Regional Parkinson’s Service said: “This new collaboration between the Coventry and Warwickshire Regional Parkinson's Service and The Myton and Mary Ann Evans Hospices has brought much needed respite and support to people with complex Parkinson's and their loved ones.

“We are delighted that this new multidisciplinary approach by the Coventry and Warwickshire Regional service has been recognised nationally at the UK Parkinson’s Excellence Awards.”
