George Eliot Hospital welcomed a new nurse, Farah Peregrino from the Philippines earlier this month following a recruitment campaign to encourage international nurses to join the hospital.
Farah is a newly qualified professional nurse from the Leyte region of the Philippines, who qualified with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Manila, before taking the huge decision to emigrate and work for the George Eliot Hospital.
After a comprehensive induction programme Farah has joined the busy team in the specialist stroke unit - Felix Holt Ward. She is really excited about her new role and is busy settling into her new position.
Farah said: “I am really enjoying my new job despite the cold and snow when I first started. Everyone is so polite and asks how you are.”
“Nuneaton is really nice and is so easy to get around. England is full of parks and very green. I have visited the shops to get used to the area and want to explore more when I get time in the New Year”
Farah celebrated Christmas with relatives who live and work in the UK.
Kay Fawcett, George Eliot’s Interim Director of Nursing, said: “We are pleased to welcome Farah into our fantastic nursing family. I am sure that they will support her in the workplace and the trust will help her to settle into the local community.
“Farah is paving the way for other international nurses who will be arriving in 2018 and joining ‘Team Eliot’.”
