Statement from George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust following announcement of planned Industrial Action from 08:00am to 17:00pm 12 - 16 September 2016.
George Eliot Hospital’s Director of Operations, John Thompson said: “Our priority is the care and safety of our patients. As during previous strikes, we will deploy senior and consultant medical staff to cover the duties normally undertaken by junior doctors.
“We are already planning how we minimise the impact as best we can. However, our outpatient and operating capacity will be reduced as a result of the planned industrial action.
“We strongly encourage patients, where possible, to avoid attending A&E by using alternatives such as NHS 111, their GP, Out of Hours GP Services and the Walk-In Urgent Care Centre on our site.”
