Paediatric diabetes specialists Sasha Dunne and Clare Neail with Erin Tiffany (age 10) who was visiting the Children's Assessment Unit
Paediatric diabetes nurses shared healthy eating advice with children and their families at George Eliot Hospital to support National Diabetes Week (11-17 June).
The nurses talked to children and their parents visiting the Children’s Assessment Unit and used books and games to demonstrate how eating a healthy balanced diet can support your health, be enjoyable and help you feel good.
The nurses advise anyone with diabetes that eating well and staying healthy can make a big difference to your life – whichever type of diabetes you have. Eating healthily can help you to manage your blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and your weight – and reduce your risk of diabetes complications in the future.
Diabetes specialist dietitian Sasha Dunn and diabetes specialist nurses Clare Neail and Jeanette Deignan also shared practical advice across the hospital and local support for patients with Diabetes in the community.
