The George Eliot Hospital is pleased to announce the recruitment of a new ‘Head of Maternity Services’, Alison Talbot. Alison, who has a long and experienced career in midwifery, has already started her new position and is keen to promote new changes to the maternity service to all future mums living in Nuneaton, Bedworth, North Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.
Alison started her career in nursing back in 1989. After training in Manchester, she has many years experience working as a midwife at Birmingham Heartlands and at the Worcester Acute NHS Trust.
She is looking forward to improving the building and services here at the George Eliot, and her main objective is to ensuring that the patient experience is as positive as it can be and to provide excellent quality and safe services for local mums and their babies.
Since her arrival, Alison has been getting to know the George Eliot, developing the current teams and recruiting a new Maternity Matron who will start in just a few weeks time.
Alison said: “My priorities are to develop the service into the future with a strong focus on patient experience, feedback, patient care and safety. I will be helping to promote normal births but also to develop the use of water for pain relief in labour.
“I am really excited to be at the George Eliot especially with the next phase of the refurbishment for the maternity unit about to start soon. Come and book an appointment to have a talk about the exciting changes we are making and how we can support you and your family to have a comfortable birth.”
