Organisers of a fundraising night in Bedworth personally delivered a cheque for an incredible £10,500 last week to the George Eliot Hospital Oncology team.
The Teresa Noon Trust had organised the entertainment event at the Saunders Club in Bedworth on Saturday 10th September in memory of dedicated fundraiser Teresa Noon, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Teresa’s husband, Trevor Noon, Bill and Sue Earp, Tracey and Tony Davies and their friends had already raised more than £15,000 to help buy equipment for the hospital through other successful musical nights and have another event planned in November.
The increasingly popular ‘boy band’ - ‘Have This’- and vocalists Ali and Paul Socket entertained a packed family audience who had come along to support the event. Have This had originally been established to help raise money for the hospital oncology unit and are now maturing nicely as a popular entertainment group, singing a wide range of popular hit songs.
The funds are helping the unit to purchase a specialist portable ultrasound scanner and stand.
Trevor and fellow organiser Bill had spent months promoting the event and we extremely pleased with the amazing turnout on the night.
Trevor Noon said: “This was a wonderful event and all of the organisers were proud to give something back to the oncology unit which supported my wife and we want to continue to help others by organising more events in her memory.
Fundraising coordinator, Jean Whittaker MBE said: “On behalf of the George Eliot Hospital and the Oncology Unit we are extremely grateful for the efforts of Trevor and his friends supporting patients at the hospital. Teresa would have been very proud of all the organisers and the local community who have responded by supporting these entertainment evenings.”
