Stakeholder Briefing:

NHS England is committed to ensuring that everyone has access to high-quality local GP services. In Arden, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, we manage 234 GP Primary Care Contracts, some of which are time limited.

In July, we sent out a briefing to let stakeholders know that the current Alternative Provider Medical Services (APMS) contracts of eight GP practices in Coventry and Warwickshire were due to expire within the coming months.

We are pleased to announce that, after engaging with patient groups and stakeholders and conducting a full procurement process, we have now appointed the providers, which will take over the day-to-day running of these practices.

The new providers for these eight practices and are as follows:

Registered patients do not need to take any further action. They will be able to remain registered with their local GP practice, and their notes and records will be transferred to the new provider. There are currently no plans for any of these surgeries to move location as a result of these contract changes, and we do not anticipate many staffing changes.

Two of the premises listed above provide both GP services and walk in facilities. You may well be aware that the local clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) have been developing their Urgent Care Strategies, which include proposals for commissioning new direct access urgent care services.

The GP services provided to registered patients at these walk-in centres are commissioned separately by NHS England. We would like to reassure you that NHS England is here to support patients currently registered with these practices, and that no one will be left without a local GP as a result of any changes to the walk-in service contracts.

We would like to reassure you that the reprocurement process which was followed is in line with legal requirements and follows regulations.

As required we will continue to inform Coventry Health and Social Care Scrutiny Board, and the Warwickshire Adult Social Care and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee about the procurement, as these Committees oversee our processes. We will continue to work closely with Coventry and Rugby CCG and Warwickshire North CCG, as well as the, Healthwatch, and other partners to ensure that patients of these practices are able to access high-quality local GP services
