GEH worker's premature baby set to leave hospital just in time for Christmas

Premature Christmas Baby

Jodie Jackson, who works on Melly ward as an auxiliary nurse, gave birth to daughter Lucy in the hospital’s maternity unit over six weeks prematurely. Mum Jodie has worked at the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust for over six years.

Baby Lucy was born weighing just 4lbs 3.5ozs when she made her speedy entrance into the world on December 5th. Lucy was also one of the first babies to use the hospital’s recently refurbished Special Care Baby Unit which is part of the wider maternity redevelopment.

Mum Jodie was given the great news that she would be able to take Lucy home just in time for their first family Christmas together.

Senior Sister for the Special Care Baby Unit, Cheryl Curson said, ’We’re really pleased with Lucy’s progress and wish Jodie, Lucy and family a very happy and healthy Christmas and new year.’
