The George Eliot Hospital are pleased to announce that their Hospital Sterilization and Decontamination Unit (HSDU) recently passed their External British Standard Institute audit.
HSDU is a sterile services department providing a vital and excellent service in reprocessing of reusable instruments.
The audit included observing staff in the clean room and asking them to demonstrate the process they follow. The team were also assessed on how they deal with complaints and non conformances. The Auditor could see the investment within HSDU with washer disinfectors replaced last year as well as new ultra sonic sinks. Funding has now been approved for four new sterilisers to be purchased.
Elaine Galloway HSDU Manager and Susan Nicholls Quality Production Manager said, ‘we are so proud of all the staff within HSDU in achieving another successful year with the audit. I would like to thank all the staff for their constant excellent work and support which they do all through the year. They work so hard to ensure that all theatres, departments, maternity as well as external customers are given an excellent service.’
