George Eliot Hospital recruitment campaign wins top award

CIPR award

Nuneaton’s George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust communications team is celebrating after being awarded a prestigious Chartered Institute of Public Relations Gold award for its #jointeameliot nurse recruitment drive.

The social media healthcare campaign used Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to share the experiences of individual hospital workers living and working in and around Nuneaton. Front line staff were encouraged to take over the Trust’s twitter account to share experience of their day, and a series of short video interviews were produced.

The campaign also created a Facebook event to promote a Theatres Open Day which attracted more than 100 visitors and led to the recruitment of seven Theatre Nurses.

George Eliot Hospital’s Director of Nursing, Michelle Norton said: “We are always looking for new ways to recruit nurses and this campaign helped us fill valuable vacancies for a very small financial outlay.”

The 2016 CIPR PRide Awards are the leading regional PR awards in the UK and recognise excellence in the public relations industry.

The team worked in partnership with the Midland and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit during the campaign.

James Turner, George Eliot Hospital’s Communications and Engagement Service Partner at Midland and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit, said: “It is fantastic to see George Eliot’s Communications Team receiving a Gold Award in these industry awards.

“The social media campaign was a real celebration of everything that Nuneaton and the Trust had to offer. What made the campaign so successful was our nurses and midwives getting behind the message and encouraging their peers to join Team Eliot.

“Our communication specialists enjoyed working with our nursing team to make this campaign such a success and to deliver such excellent results.”

The award was announced at the Midlands PRide Awards event at the Aston Webb Building, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, on September 30.
