George Eliot Hospital has been chosen as one of the first hospitals to start delivering the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine from today, Monday 4th January 2021, ahead of rollout to hundreds of GP-led services later in the week.
The Trust will be delivering a pilot vaccination programme to frontline healthcare workers and inpatients over the age of 80.
Chief Executive of George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, Glen Burley, said: “This is such fantastic news. It’s great to be leading the way in the midlands and we are very proud to be able to support the health and wellbeing of our staff – and through them, the local community of Nuneaton and North Warwickshire. This is a welcome first step, but we must not drop our guard and the strong message remains for people to be vigilant, follow the tier 4 rules and observe hands face space guidance.”
“We know that this is a really positive step in the fight against coronavirus however we would like to remind the local community that the NHS will contact you when it’s the right time to come forward so please don’t seek a vaccine before then. Please act on your invite and make sure you attend your appointments when you arrange them.”
