George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Catherine Free as Medical Director.
Dr Free qualified in Medicine with honours in 1996 and has been working as a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at the Glenfield Hospital in Leicester since 2006. She has held senior clinical leadership roles since 2012, including Clinical Director for Emergency and Specialist Medicine and Deputy Medical Director and Responsible Officer for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
Dr Free said: “I am so pleased to be appointed to this role at George Eliot Hospital. I am joining a hospitalon a really positive journey with a strong and vibrant future at the heart of the North Warwickshire community. I am excited to join a team who are passionate about quality and to be given the opportunity as Medical Director to help shape the future direction of the organisation for the benefit of patients and staff.”
Chairman Stuart Annan said: “I am delighted to welcome Dr Free to the Trust who brings with her a fresh perspective and effective, inclusive leadership skills. We have a strong Trust Board and executive team here at George Eliot and the Medical Director plays a crucial role in this. We congratulate Catherine on her appointment and welcome her to the hospital.”
Dr Free’s appointment follows the retirement of Dr Gordon Wood, the current Medical Director at George Eliot Hospital.
