White Lion Pub Donation
A&L Building Contractors

White Lion pub goers, staff and local businesses helped to successfully fundraise £2022 to support George Eliot Hospital’s special care baby unit following a fun day at the pub.

White Lion Licensee, Stacy Frisby, visited the maternity unit last week to hand over a massive cash donation to the team who nurse special care babies.

The pub in Stockingford, Nuneaton had organised an action packed fun day, which included live music, sumo suit fun, raffles and face painting, on 2nd July for the Special Care Baby Unit. Local businesses sponsored the event by donating fabulous prizes for the raffles including meals at local restaurants, bottles and even a signed photograph of boxer Sugar Ray Leonard.   Local firm A&L Building Contractors sponsored the event by generously providing a cash donation which was converted to an IPAD raffle prize.

Stacy and her business partner Paul Caven organised the event to support local services for babies. Stacy’s sister Michelle Green and niece Linzi Alsop are health care support workers in the Special Care Baby Unit and Stacy gave birth to her own three children at the Maternity unit, so she was keen to support this service.

Stacy was astounded with the response and donations for the event from her own staff, local businesses and visitors to the recently renovated White Lion pub.

Stacy said: “The people who work in special care are amazing and save little lives, so we wanted to help support their work.

“I would like that thank my business partner Paul, staff at the White Lion and all of the families who came along for our fun day.

“I would also like to thank all of the businesses who support the event especially our sponsors Adam and Lee from A&L Building Contractors, I couldn’t have organised this without them. We are already planning another event next year.”

Special Care Baby Unit manager, Cheryl Curson said: “We want to thank Stacey and everyone involved in making this event such a success and for this incredible donation.

“The donation will go towards our plans to provide televisions, decorative murals and reclining chairs to make the area even more comfortable for families visiting the unit.”
