Local business managers from Lloyds bank helped out at George Eliot Hospital earlier this month by tidying the public garden courtyard used by both staff and families visiting the maternity hospital.
The group of volunteers from across the Midlands weeded the garden, planted colourful borders, tidied the pond area and helped to make this special place a welcome haven for the people who visit the maternity building.
Each volunteer had given up their time as part of a ‘Give and Gain’ initiative to help others. One of the group Christian Boyle, had recently experienced baby loss and wanted to support other parents who visit the hospital.
Local business manager, Christian Boyle said: “I helped to organise the tidy because I wanted to give something back to wonderful staff at George Eliot Hospital who helped my wife and our family earlier this year.”
Specialist bereavement midwife, Emma Bennett said: “It was amazing to see the hard work being undertaken to help clear this green space for both our staff and families to visit and appreciate.”
Chris is also currently organising other events to support the hospital and bereaved families.
