George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust was delighted to receive a cheque for £1,200 from Stockingford Allotment Association Charity Cup Committee.
Money was raised from the Stockingford AA Charity Cup Competition, which has been running since 1968 and will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. The event is organised by Committee members Ian Garrett, Peter Balac, Warren Percival and Andrew Astle and features the top Sunday league teams from Nuneaton, Bedworth, Coventry and Tamworth.
This season’s final saw Ambush FC from the Coventry Sunday League take on Poplar Athletic from the Nuneaton & District Sunday League, with Ambush FC clinching the victory after a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw during 90 minutes.
The 2018 final will take place at Stockingford Pavilion Ground on Sunday, 13 May 2018.
Patients who receive oncology treatment at George Eliot Hospital’s Dorothea Unit will benefit from the funds raised.
Dorothea Unit Manager, Kay Fox, expressed her thanks on behalf of the Unit. She said: “We really appreciate this kind donation which will benefit our patients enormously.
“I’d like to thank everyone who was involved with this event and who donated generously to support Dorothea Unit.”
