George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is recruiting for a number of exciting new Patient Support Apprentice roles. These roles are the first of their kind at the Hospital and offer a step into  nursing and clinical roles whilst providing  added support to patients

There are ten Apprentice roles available, all of which run for a 14 month period. Applicants must be between ages 17-21 and have lived in the UK for three or more years. Each apprentice will be based on one ward at the George Eliot Hospital and will work with the clinical team to support patients.

The salary is that of the standard apprentice role which is  £5,338 per annum and offers a working pattern of 37.5 hours per week which includes education time and college attendance.

The role offers an opportunity to gain valuable insight and experience working with patients on the wards and further dedicated support to our patients

This is a practical role linked with study and we are pleased to work with TQ Training who offer support and help and have a long and successful record in supporting apprentice programmes . Participants will work to achieve the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care and Care Certificate which a requirement of all working in healthcare

Working hours

  • 12 month fixed term contract
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Working hours between 0730 – 1830
  • You are aged between 17-21
  • Have lived within the EU/EEA for 3 or more years
  • You must not be in any form of formal government funded education
  • Must not have any Level 4 qualification or above
  • Minimum of 3 GCSE grades A-D must include, English and Maths


Recruitment and assessment day will take place on the 11th September 2015

The Apprenticeship Scheme is run in partnership with TQ Training to ensure that applicants are supported through a high quality training programme; they will be required to undertake the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care
