Exciting new improvements to A&E

A&E Development August 2017

Exciting new improvements to A&E have started to improve access to A&E and Urgent Care for our local community and to enlarge existing facilities.

The improvements create a ‘One Stop Shop’ Emergency Department accessed through one front door that incorporates A&E, out-of-hours GP services, urgent care and the existing minor injury services.

Urgent Care and Out of hours services will be located together in the new extended A&E and the minor injury unit will be enlarged to better support our patients. This improvement to our existing services aims to increase capacity, improve waiting areas and decrease waiting times for our patients.

During the development, the A&E reception and waiting room will be replaced with a temporary reception/waiting room area. Telephone numbers to the department will not change and there will be no change for our Ambulance arrival area.

These changes will be in place for approximately 16 weeks and any changes to the schedule will be communicated to both public and our staff.

Further information can be found on a dedicated web page during the development.
