Make a difference to your life this New Year by quitting smoking and winning a prize at the same time.
Warwickshire Country Council have launched for the third year the eX-Smoker Factor Competition, a competition for successful quitters who share their quitting stories to encourage other smokers to quit too.
If your New Year’s resolution is to quit smoking, you have the chance to win a prize by sharing your quitting story by telling us via email, blog posts or video diaries of your progress.
To help celebrate your new smoke free lives these are the prizes you could win from the competition.

Last year one of the winners, Peter Selby, not only had his life potentially saved once by quitting smoking, but in the process had his life (and that of his family) saved again when his Stop Smoking Advisor, Sarah Treadwell-Whitlock at Croft Medical Centre, Leamington, noticed he had a high CO reading after he quit. When Peter had his gas appliances checked the cooker was found to be leaking large amounts of CO… Peter was extremely grateful to Sarah for her all her support and his prize was a family trip to Hatton Country World. Sarah received a voucher for a spa day at the prestigious Welcombe Hotel.
Cllr Les Caborn, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Health said: “As a council we are committed to encouraging as many people as possible in Warwickshire to give up smoking. This competition provides people with even more incentive and support to try and stop smoking. By sharing the giving up experience, this will motivate others to join in and try to give up too.”
Cllr Maggie O’Rourke, Warwickshire County Council’s Chair of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee for Adults, Health and Social Care, said: “Giving up smoking is the single biggest thing anyone can do to improve their health. The eX-Smoker Factor Competition is a great opportunity to show everyone that while giving up smoking isn't easy, it is possible.”
The deadline for entries is Sunday 31st January and the winning blogs/videos will used to promote National No Smoking Day on 9th March 2016 in Warwickshire (subject to consent).
Full details of the competition and useful hints, tips and links can be found at
