On 26th January the George Eliot hosted a visit by Ed Miliband, Leader of the Labour Party, and Andy Burnham, Shadow Health Secretary.
They spent four hours at the Hospital, meeting staff and patients on Ambulatory Care Unit and Acute Medical Unit and answering questions from health journals on their health manifesto which they launched on 27th January.
This visit demonstrated that the George Eliot is nationally recognised for the ground breaking work that we do here and that we deliver great care day in day out.
Both of the visitors were extremely impressed with the model of the Acute Medical Unit in particular, and could not fail to miss the ‘Team of the Year’ award which was proudly displayed on the unit.
The Acting Chief Executive of the George Eliot, Kath Kelly outlined the Trust’s vision to further integrate services at the Hospital with primary, community and social care.
Kath Kelly said: "The passion and positivity came out so strongly from all our staff that we received extremely positive feedback and a personal thank you to all our staff from both visitors."
