Drayton Ward Manager, Sharon Gouldingay
Families who stay in the George Eliot Hospital Maternity Drayton Ward welcomed the arrival of a bright and airy refurbished family lounge.
New mums, dads and family members can now benefit from a private space to enjoy relaxation time before, during and after their babies are born.
This open planned and colourful lounge features a private kitchen area, large flat screen television, soft seating and pretty wall art. Families can make their own tea and coffee and relax away from their hospital beds.
Maternity matron, Andrea Batty said: “This is another phase in our ongoing refurbishment which has recently included a refurbished delivery suite featuring two hi-tech birthing pool rooms.”
George Eliot Hospital maternity unit has also introduced several new initiatives recently including its Mums plus One initiative which encourages partners or a relative to stay with the new mum overnight, to help assist them with baby care and by collecting mum’s meals and refreshments during labour.
The maternity unit would also like to promote their forthcoming ‘Patient Kitchen Table Event’ will take place on Sunday, 2nd July from 10am -12pm in the Maternity Building Foyer at George Eliot. The aim of the event is to demystify what happens when a patient leaves feedback about the service.
